Matt Stienburg has been suspended for two games after charging Erik Cernak during a recent game, which the NHL deemed unnecessary and dangerous. The 24-year-old forward left his feet and made significant contact with Cernak's head, resulting in a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct. Stienburg, a third-round pick in 2019, has yet to score in his first eight NHL games, accumulating 16 hits and 22 penalty minutes. He will miss upcoming games against the Nashville Predators and Seattle Kraken. Prior to his NHL debut, he played three seasons at Cornell and contributed 13 points in 54 games with the Colorado Eagles in the AHL during the 2023-24 season.
